Impaired driver arrested at Bluewater Bridge

Lambton OPP officials allege: On August 10, 2019 at 11:15 a.m members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) at the Bluewater Bridge, Point Edward Ontario in response to an impaired driver attempting to gain entry to Canada.

Members of the CBSA had contacted the Lambton County OPP regarding a driver that had stopped for a secondary inspection at the Bluewater Bridge.

While in secondary examination CBSA officers noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment.

As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation and was transported to the Lambton OPP detachment to provide breath tests.

The driver; a 57 year-old Davison, Michigan man has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus and Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario at a later date.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from alcohol-impaired and drug-impaired drivers.
