Police pursuit ends with an arrest in Dover

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday morning before 7 a.m. police received a complaint of a theft of gas at a Thamesville business.

However, the suspect vehicle, a red pick-up truck, fled the area before police arrival.

Shortly after 7 a.m. police located the suspect vehicle on Bear Line and a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle drove through various farm fields, causing damage to crops and after a short period of time the driver stopped the vehicle and fled on foot into a marsh area where he stole a boat.

The two passengers of the motor vehicle were arrested by community patrol members and the vehicle was found to be stolen from the London area.

Chatham-Kent Police community patrol, marine unit, UAV (drone), and K9 units were all utilized in an attempt to locate the accused.

At 1:50 p.m. the accused was tracked by K9 through a corn field and arrested by police.

The 36 year old Kettle Point man was held pending a bail hearing.
