Man arrested for entering apartment

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 8:15 p.m. last night, officers responded to a break and enter complaint at an apartment building on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

A male party had been observed using a ladder to climb from his balcony to the balcony of another tenant and enter their apartment.

Nothing was taken and there was no damage.

A 27-year-old Wallaceburg man has been arrested and charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling.

He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Break and enters near Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between August 20 and August 25, 2019, unknown suspects forced their way into several out buildings on a property located on Stewart Line outside of Wallaceburg.

Once inside, the suspects removed approximately $600 in property, which included two red and blue automotive jacks and an Echo brand weed trimmer.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. yesterday morning, unknown suspects entered a garage on a property located on Snye Road outside of Wallaceburg.

Once inside, the suspects removed approximately $850 in property, which included a Stihl 170 chainsaw, a Stihl 280 chainsaw, and a Stanley socket set.

Man arrested for impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 7:20 p.m. last night, officers responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver in a parking lot on Victoria Street in Ridgetown.

A man had been observed driving a vehicle erratically in the parking lot before crashing into a nearby tree.

Through investigation, the responding officer believed that the man was driving the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested on scene.

The man was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests, which indicated that he had over twice the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

A 72-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired and having a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 80mgs Plus.

He has been released from custody with a future court date.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday, August 25, 2019, at approximately 3:10 a.m., an unknown suspect forced their way into a business on Grand Ave West in Chatham.

Once inside, the suspects removed a small amount of Canadian currency from the cash register and several bottles of alcohol.

The total damage to the building and loss of property was estimated at approximately $1,800.
