Ending Violence Against Women in CK

You can’t solve a problem if you don’t know it exists – in our busy world, important local social issues can often be ignored or go unnoticed. We know as Canadians, we absolutely want to love the places where we live and raise our families, but issues like violence against women are hurting our community. United Way of Chatham-Kent wants to change that.

On October 1, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church in Chatham, United Way of Chatham-
Kent will be hosting a community conversation on helping to end violence against women in Chatham-Kent. The event
will be moderated by Shari Margolese, and will include the following panel members:
• Cst. Meredith Rota, Human Trafficking, Chatham-Kent Police Services
• Terry Marchand, Domestic Violence Coordinator, Chatham-Kent Police Services
• Karen Hunter, Executive Director, Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre
• Emily Spagnolo, Partner Assault Response Counsellor – Changing Ways
• Karyn O’Neil, Director of Community Engagement and Operations, United Way of Chatham-Kent

This will be an opportunity to learn what violence against women looks like in our community … in all of its forms, how to recognize the warning signs and connect with help, what is currently being done about it here in Chatham-Kent, and how you can help to make a difference. After the panel discussion, there will be an open Q&A with the audience.

This is a free event and freewill donations will be accepted at the door if desired that will go to support programs in Chatham-Kent working to help end violence against women.

This event is being held in partnership with Chatham-Kent Police Services, Changing Ways, Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, Women United, and United Way of Chatham-Kent.

Date:   Tuesday, October 1, 2019
