Police: Assault investigation, drugs, drunk in public

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Harwich Township.

Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with breaching his probation order

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 12, 2018 a man entered into a Probation Order with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to buy, possess or consume alcohol.

Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, police assisted paramedics with an intoxicated man on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man had been drinking at a nearby establishment.

Once cleared by EMS, the man was arrested.

A 50-year-old Chatham man was charged with failing to comply with his Probation Order.

He was released when sober pending a future court date of October 16, 2019.

Man charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4 a.m. this morning an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg located a man on Duke Street who was wanted by St. Thomas Police.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 52-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with drug possession and released pending a future court date of October 24, 2019.

He was subsequently turned over to officers from St. Thomas for court purposes.

Men charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Romney Township.

Officers located the intoxicated man walking down the middle of the road. For his own safety, he was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The 52-year-old man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

He was released when sober.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to an intoxicated man refusing to leave the Casino in Chatham.

The 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was released when sober.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Officers located an intoxicated man outside the home refusing to leave.

The 33-year-old Pain Court man was arrested for his own safety and transported to police headquarters.

He remains in custody and will be released when sober.
