Report of suspicious person leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 12, 2019 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Last night, shortly after 9 p.m. officers responded to the report of a suspicious person around Hydro One on Maple Leaf Drive in Chatham.

Through investigation, officers found the man on the property hiding in the bushes.

The man was arrested and upon being searched, was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

The 56-year-old Chatham man has been charged with failing to comply and drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the Ridgetown area.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation.

The man also kicked the woman’s car causing about $700 damage.

The 32-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested and charged with forcible confinement, assault, mischief under $5,000 and uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged after discharging fire extinguisher

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday morning, police responded to a disturbance at an apartment building on Thames Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man discharged a fire extinguisher in an apartment occupied by two people known to him.

He fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Last night, the 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with mischief, assault with a weapon and two counts of administering a noxious substance.

He was released pending a future court date of November 27, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man wanted for break and enter and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

A 61-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and released pending a future court date of November 19, 2019.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man wanted for breaching his Probation Order and failing to attend court earlier this month.

The 35-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested and transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on River View Line between Merlin Road and Jacob Road.

The driver, a 70-year-old Leamington woman, lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway and stuck a building.

She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention of non-life-threatening injuries.

Total damage has been estimated at $30,000.

The collision remains under investigation.
