$100,000 damage after Blenheim crash, $30,000 damage after Dover crash

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a pair of serious motor vehicle collisions on Sunday.

In the first incident, police officials allege shortly after 7:30 a.m. yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Maple Line in Dover Township involving a tractor-trailer.

The driver, a 66-year-old Wallaceburg man, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $30,000.

The collision remains under investigation.

In the second incident, yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision on Chatham Street South in Blenheim.

The driver lost control of his vehicle and hit the Giant Tiger building.

One person within the vehicle was transported to hospital for medical attention.

No one in the store was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $100,000.

The driver was charged with careless driving.
