Chatham-Kent’s first baby of 2020 delivered at home

Houston Michael Richards-Dyson was born at 3:37 a.m. on January 1, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces – making him Chatham-Kent’s New Year’s baby.

“He is Chatham’s first baby of 2020, the first baby of a new decade in Chatham-Kent, and fourth child for Shannon and Cody,” the Chatham-Kent Midwives, who helped deliver Houston in a home birth, posted on social media.

“Congrats to Shannon, Cody, big brothers Jayden and Ryley and big sister Mia.”

The Midwives of Chatham-Kent said they believe this is a first in Chatham-Kent history.

“As planned, Houston was born at home with the help of Simone and Jenn,” the organization posted.

“Although this is not the first time the Midwives of Chatham-Kent have helped catch a new year baby, we are pretty sure this is the first time the Chatham-Kent new year baby has been a planned home birth. Thanks to Jenn, Simone and Sarah for being on call over the holidays! It was a busy season.”
