Suspicious vehicle complaint leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On January 3, police responded to an address in Chatham for a suspicious vehicle complaint.

A 25-year-old man was located while investigating this compliant and it was discovered he was in breach of a recognizance of bail.

The 25 year old was also operating a motor vehicle while prohibited to do so.

This resulted in a further criminal charge of drive while prohibited.

The owner of the vehicle was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for knowingly allowing a prohibited driver to operate their vehicle.

The 25-year-old man’s driving prohibition also had a 45-day impoundment for any vehicle he was found to be operating.

The vehicle in this matter was thus impounded as per this condition.

The 25 year old man was released from custody with a future court date.

Man arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On January 3, police located a 27-year-old man in Wallaceburg while on general patrol.

The man was known to police and an inquiry yielded a warrant for failing to comply with an undertaking.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
