Shotgun stolen, fentanyl & meth seized

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last week, the pair attended the home of family members and stole a 12 gauge shotgun that was mounted on the wall.

The homeowners contacted police yesterday when attempts to get the shotgun back failed.

Officers located the pair and they were arrested.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The 24-year-old Chatham man was charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm and two counts of drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of March 5, 2020.

The 28-year-old Chatham woman was charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

She was released pending a future court date of March 4, 2020.

Offices are continuing their efforts in locating the shotgun.
