Collision leads to impaired charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 9 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Longwoods Road near West Bothwell Road.

The man lost control of his vehicle, left the road and hit a hydro pole.

Luckily, he was not injured.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 56-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of March 16, 2020.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

As officers arrived on scene, they observed the man driving away.

A traffic stop was initiated and through investigation, police learned that he was breaching his release conditions by attending the residence and communicating with his ex-girlfriend.

The 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

When brought forward before a Justice of the Peace yesterday afternoon, he was released pending a future court date of March 10, 2020.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, a man wanted for mischief and failing to attend court last month, attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

A 49-year-old Chatham man was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

When brought forward before a Justice of the Peace yesterday afternoon, he was released pending a future court date of March 10, 2020.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police conducted a RIDE spot check on McKinlay Road near the 401 in Tilbury.

Nine vehicles were stopped with no infractions observed.
