Woman charged with drug possession

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, an officer observed a white Mercedes travelling at a high rate of speed on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

As the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the woman tried to evade the officer by pulling into a parking lot and driving behind the buildings on the property.

The officer caught up to the vehicle and learned that the woman was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.

The officer also believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was also found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine.

A 56-year-old Windsor woman was issued a 3-day license suspension as a result of a breath sample in the warn range.

She was also charged with driving while under suspension, careless driving, driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit and drug possession.

She was released pending a future court date of April 2, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man wanted for failing to attend court.

The 38-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police located a man who was wanted for breaching conditions of his Probation Order.

The 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, officers from CKPS and OPP conducted a joint-forces operation along the 401 corridor in Chatham-Kent.

Four motorists were charged with various Highway Traffic Act offences.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, officers conducted enforcement on McCreary Line.

Four motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Stolen vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime overnight, unknown suspects stole a 2005 black Lexus R33 from a residence on Turquoise Court.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates AFSH 009.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 9 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Jane Street near Marlborough Street in Blenheim.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000.

A 63-year-old woman was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Claymore Line.

The driver, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck two hydro poles.

Total damage was estimated at $9,000.

The 21-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.
