Special Council meeting using ‘social distancing’ procedures due to COVID-19

Tonight’s, March 13, special meeting of Chatham-Kent Council on Erie Shore Drive is for information purposes only, Municipal officials say.

There will be no deputations or questions permitted by those attending.

The 5 p.m. meeting in council chambers at the Civic Centre, 315 King Street West, Chatham will consist of an approximate 30-minute presentation in open session that will include a brief project update outlining timelines, changes and challenges faced during the first week of Phase One construction.

Council will then adjourn to closed session for legal advice and other discussions as permitted by the Municipal Act.

“In light of the global concerns regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the meeting will be conducted using social distancing procedures,” Municipal officials said in a press release.

“Administration is asking that those that do attend follow council members’ example in leaving every other seat empty, if possible and/or be prepared to be seated in another area set-up by administration for this purpose.”

Municipal officials added: “It is recommended that citizens not attend in person and watch the on-line presentation.”

The meeting will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/yourtvck/ and YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/.
