Crash in Wallaceburg leads to multiple charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon around 3 p.m. police responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a hydro pole on Elgin Street near Creek Street in Wallaceburg.

The driver fled the scene, however with the assistance of witnesses, officers located the vehicle on Book Street.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was driving a stolen pick-up truck from Watford with a stolen ATV from Sarnia in the back.

A 27-year-old man from Wallaceburg was arrested and charged with two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, driving while under suspension, using plates not authorized for the vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

He was released pending a future court date of June 10, 2020.
