Wind warning issued across Chatham-Kent

Update:

A wind warning has been issued across Chatham-Kent, as strong wind gusts of 90 km/h are expected late this afternoon.

“Very strong southwesterly wind gusts of 90 km/h ahead of a cold front are reported over Windsor and Chatham region this afternoon,” Environment Canada officials say.

“The strong winds are expected to move eastwards and affect other regions over southwestern Ontario later this afternoon and early this evening.”

The strong wind gusts will taper off this evening, forecasters say.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” Environment Canada officials say.

“High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”

Forecasters say wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
