Frost advisory issued across Chatham-Kent

A frost advisory has been issued across Chatham-Kent by Environment Canada.

“Frost may destroy crops,” forecasters say.

“Temperatures near or below zero tonight will result in frost formation.”

Environment Canada officials have released the following details and advice:

Hazard: Frost and freeze conditions.

Timing: Tonight and early Thursday morning.

Impact: Frost-sensitive crops and plants could be damaged or killed by frost.

Action: Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive crops and plants.

“An extended period of significantly cooler than normal temperatures will likely result in several days of frost and, at times, hard freezes across much of southern Ontario for at least the next week,” forecasters say.

“May 7 marks the beginning of the 2020 Frost Advisory season for these regions in Ontario. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.”
