Police: Speeding, curfew breach, threats, B&E in Dover

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the Traffic Unit and Community Patrol conducted speed enforcement on Bear Line Road.

A total of eight motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

A 29-year-old Blenheim man was also charged with driving while under suspension.

Speeding is not only dangerous but costly, police officials say.

Yesterday afternoon, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Talbot Road East in Wheatley.

The officer recorded the man driving 104km/h in a posted 60km/h zone.

The 51-year-old London man was issued a speeding ticket for $329 and 4 points.

Man charged with breaching curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 19, 2020 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Last night around 10 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the man walking on Duluth Street in Chatham.

The 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with communicating with woman

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 1, 2020 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with his ex-girlfriend.

Last night, the man called the woman and threatened her.

He also tried to video chat with the woman through Facebook Messenger several times.

Officers located the man and he was arrested.

The 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged with uttering threats and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Break and enter in Dover Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday, between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Jacob Road, causing about $500 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole the homeowner’s passports, jewelry, cash and stereo equipment.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $3,600.
