A new ‘Camp In A Box’ program has been launched across Chatham-Kent.
With summer camps and pools closed, CKRecreation wants to help people stay active and healthy this summer.
“We’ve gathered your favourite summer camp games and activities that you can do at home,” CKRecreation officials say.
“And best of all, each box is free.”
Inside each box, people will find: five active game, five arts and crafts, two science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities.
“Plus, once you complete the activities, there’s a cardboard box challenge,” CKRecreation officials say.
Only 100 boxes are available every week.
“So in order to provide opportunities for as many families as possible, there’s a limit of one free box per family per week,” CKRecreation officials say.
“However, you can purchase additional materials for a second child for $25 each.
Registration starts every Monday for the next week’s box, and is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To register, call 519-360-1998.
CKRecreation is also offering contactless pick-up points for the program.
“When you arrive at your pick-up location, drive up to the CKRecreation Green and Black Flags… please stay in your car,” CKRecreation officials say.
“CKRec staff will take your name and number that you registered under. CKRec staff will load your box into your car.”
Pick-up spots will be setup at the following locations:
– Blenheim Memorial Arena Parking Lot – Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
– Tilbury Memorial Arena Parking Lot – Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
