This Friday, July 10 the Municipality of Chatham-Kent will commence the gradual re-opening of facilities starting with the Civic Centre in Chatham, located at 315 King Street West in Chatham, at 8:30 a.m.
“With the July 10 tax payment due date approaching, we continue to encourage customers to place documents and payments (tax, water/hydro, permits, fines) in the secure drop-box outside,” Municipal officials said in a press release.
“A soft opening on Friday is being launched to service only those related to tax payments. Those who do not want to leave a payment in the secure drop box or who need to make a debit payment will be permitted to enter the building following screening.”
Customers should expect to be asked a few screening questions prior to entry of the building, as well as required hand sanitization, Municipal officials say.
“To ensure the safety of our staff and customers, counter guards as well as social distancing floor decals have been installed,” Municipal officials stated.
“Starting on Monday, July 13 regular office hours will be reinstated from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. At that time, licensing services will also be added to the services available.”
Of note, customer access will be limited to the atrium area only, Municipal officials say.
“We encourage customers to call 519-360-1998 or email ckinfo@chatham-kent.ca to schedule an appointment for service requests with complexity (for example) marriage licences, building permits… or enquire as to available service options such as phone/online payments.”
Following successful re-opening of the Civic Centre, the Chatham ServiceOntario office on Grand Avenue is scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 20.
“The Dresden Municipal Office and ServiceOntario counter are scheduled to open on Tuesday, August 4 followed by the opening of the balance of our municipal offices by the end of August, Municipal officials say.
