Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On July 12, 2020 at approximately 4:07 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the report of a possible drowning in the waters of Lake Erie near Wheatley Provincial Park.
A 28-year-old man went into the water and appeared to be under water for approximately 10 minutes.
He was brought out of the water and CPR was conducted.
The man was transported to hospital by EMS but pronounced deceased at the hospital.
A name will be released once next of kin is notified.
