2020 Children’s Water Festival cancelled due to COVID-19

Due to the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19 and return to school protocols, the organizers of the annual fall Chatham-Kent and Lambton Children’s Water Festival have made the difficult decision to cancel the festival for this fall.

This three day outdoor event was scheduled to take place October 6 to 8,
2020 at the C.M. Wilson Conservation Area just south east of Chatham.

Organizers say in a typical year, over 2,000 elementary school students and 450 volunteers have attended this event.

The festival has been running since 2007, attracting over 16,000 elementary students at the Grade 4/5 level during that time period.

The festival would have celebrated its 11th year this coming fall, organizers said in a media release.

“This outdoor festival focuses on the themes of water science, water technology, water conservation, water protection and water attitude, through the delivery of over 40 hands-on, fun filled and interactive activity centres,” organizers say.

Next year’s festival dates have already been set, with the three day festival occurring from October 5 to 7, 2021 at the C.M. Wilson Conservation Area.
