Homicide investigation in Lambton County

A homicide investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is now underway following the discovery of human remains this weekend at Kettle and Stony Point First Nation Territory.

Lambton OPP officials allege on August 2, 2020 at approximately 1:15 p.m., members from the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine were assisting Anishinabek Police Service (APS) with a search when a body was discovered by police.

OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) also attended the scene.

Yesterday, a post-mortem examination determined the deceased died as a result of a homicide. Investigators are still working to confirm identity of the victim.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as they become available.
