‘Incredible result’ at Wallaceburg blood donor clinic

Officials with Canadian Blood Services are thrilled with the turnout, after a blood donor clinic was held in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

“We had 86 donors attend and in the end, we collected 84 blood donations… just two units shy of our overall target,” Elaine St. Pierre, donor relations with the Canadian Blood Services, told the Sydenham Current .

“An incredible result really, given it was our first event back in the community in quite some time.”

This was the first blood donor clinic held in Wallaceburg since January, due to the restrictions put in place because of COVID-19.

“We’ll be back in Wallaceburg again on Tuesday, October 6 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the UAW Local – 251 hall and look forward to another great turnout,” St. Pierre added.

A blood donor clinic is also scheduled at the Dresden Arena on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

St. Pierre says it is mandatory to make an appointment ahead of time for appointments, as no walk-ins are being allowed with the new COVID-19 restrictions.

St. Pierre is asking people to wear a mask to their appointment or a mask will be supplied if people do not have one.

Staff will also be taking people’s temperature at the door before entering the clinic, St. Pierre added.

To book an appointment log on to www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2-DONATE.
