Police: Knife possession, assault, warrants, vehicle impounded

Man found in possession of knife

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last year, a man was released from court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to possess any weapons.

Yesterday morning, police responded to the report of an intoxicated man, waving a knife around on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the man drinking alcohol on the railway tracks with the knife beside him.

The 40-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Blenheim.

Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted his ex-girlfriend earlier this month.

The 28-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault.

He was released pending a future court date of September 23, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a man in Chatham who was wanted on an outstanding warrant by Windsor Police.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was turned over to officers from Windsor for court purposes.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions was arrested in London.

The 36-year-old man of no fixed address was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police arrested a man in Chatham who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 55-year-old man was released pending a future court date of September 23, 2020.

Traffic stop leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, just before 4 a.m. an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Queen Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the driver was suspended for unpaid fines and demerit points.

The 31-year-old Chatham man was charged with being a G1 driver and unaccompanied by a qualified driver along with two counts of driving while under suspension.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on September 23, 2020.

His vehicle was impounded for 7 days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
