Firefighters battled a blaze this afternoon, September 4, 2020, on Bear Line Road, just outside of Chatham.
Fire officials say crews from Station #4 – Dover and station #15 – Raleigh North responded to the fire at 23854 Bear Line Road, between Gregory Drive West and Creek Line.
Fire officials encouraged people to avoid the area in a tweet sent out at 1:31 p.m.
At 3:57 p.m., fire officials tweeted that fire was out at the abandoned house.
“Firefighters remain on scene to put out hot spots,” fire officials tweeted.
There were no injuries reported, fire officials say.
The cause of the blaze is undetermined.
