Fire in Chatham causes $275,000 damage

A fire in Chatham on Thursday, September 3, 2020 has caused $275,000 damage.

Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services officials say Station #1 and #2 – Chatham responded to a roof space fire at 77 King Street East.

There were no injuries and the blaze is not deemed suspicious.

“Firefighters will be returning to the area to conduct an After the Fire Reassurance Campaign,” fire officials tweeted.

The fire started in the attic, fire officials say.

The cause has been ruled accidental.
