Luring, child pornography charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 11, 2020, the Chatham-Kent Police – Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) and Peel Regional Police, executed a search warrant in Chatham in relation to a multi-jurisdiction investigation, which included Peel Regional Police (ICE) and Peterborough Police (ICE).

A man was communicating online, for a sexual purpose, between February 5 to August 28, 2020, with a female in the Peterborough area, that he believed to be under the age of 16.

The man was also communicating online, for a sexual purpose, between July 22 and September 11, 2020, with a female in the Peel-Region area, that he believed to be under the age of 16.

The 31-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of luring a child under 16 to commit invitation to sexual touching, attempting to make child pornography and four counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16.

The man has been released with conditions, which he must abide by, with a future court date of September 29, 2020.
