Life threatening injuries after a crash on the 401

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a serious injury motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 401 east of Bloomfield Road.

A tractor trailer and a passenger motor vehicle collided in the eastbound lanes at approximately 3 p.m., sending the lone occupant driver of the passenger vehicle to hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Bloomfield Road and Communications Road will remain closed until further notice as the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) complete the investigation.
