Man charged with resist arrest
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle travelling on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.
The officer believed the man to be prohibited from driving and initiated a traffic stop, however the man failed to stop.
The man continued driving and pulled into a driveway on Victoria Street.
The man fled on foot and resisted as the officer attempted to arrest him. A conducted energy weapon (taser) was deployed and the man was taken into custody.
A 27-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with flight from police, resist arrest, driving while prohibited and driving while suspended for unpaid fines.
He was released pending a future court date of November 17, 2020.
Break and enter leads to drug and public mischief charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a break and enter at a residence in Chatham.
The suspect, a 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested.
Upon being searched incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, purple Fentanyl, two sets of scales and two cell phones.
Through investigation, police learned that the homeowner lied about details of the break and enter.
As a result, the suspect was only charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.
He was released pending a future court date of October 15, 2020.
The homeowner, a 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with public mischief.
He was released pending a future court date of October 14, 2020.
Man charged with mischief
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early Friday morning, the man entered a bank on King Street in Chatham and smashed three glass panels near an ATM machine with a baseball bat.
Total damage was estimated to be over $5,000.
With the assistance of video surveillance, the man responsible was identified.
Yesterday morning, police located the man and he was arrested.
A 46-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with mischief over $5,000 and released pending a future court date of October 20, 2020.
Man charged with assault
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation and that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.
The 25-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with three counts of assault.
He was released pending a future court date of October 2, 2020.
Theft of tools and van in Dresden
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Monday at 11 p.m. and Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a garage on Hughes Road.
Once inside, the suspects stole about $4,500 worth of various tools.
The suspects also entered the home and grabbed a set of keys, allowing them to steal a red 2019 Dodge Caravan, containing the homeowner’s purse.
The van was last seen with Ontario license plates CHEH 986.

Theft of electronics in Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a residential alarm on Tecumseh Road.
Through investigation, police learned that unknown suspects forced their way into the home, causing about $500 damage.
Once inside, the suspects stole US currency, PS4 gaming system, Xbox One gaming system, Google Chromebook and personal identification.

Theft of jewelry in Chatham
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Monday and Tuesday, unknown suspects forced their way into a home on McNaughton Avenue East, causing about $100 damage.
Once inside, the suspects stole an Apple computer, jewelry box and microphone.
Total value of the theft has been estimated at $900.
