Virtual reference service, grab-and-go kits at CKPL

The Chatham-Kent Public Library has launched a new virtual reference service, ‘Ask CKPL’.

“Have a question and don’t where know where to start? Need more information about a topic? Chatham-Kent Public Library staff answer thousands of questions for CK residents every year and would be happy to help you find what you’re looking for,” library officials said in a media release.

“Ask knowledgeable CKPL staff questions virtually through our phone, text, email and chat information service.”

‘Ask CKPL’ is available:

– Monday- 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

– Tuesday to Thursday- 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

– Friday and Saturday- 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“Our email inbox is always open and we aim to respond to all requests within 1 business day,” library officials say.

Also at CKPL, Grab and Go! Free Arts & Crafts Kits are now available at the Chatham-Kent Public Library.

“Chatham-Kent Public Library is helping you get your craft on with Grab and Go! Free Arts & Crafts Kits. Grab and Go! Free Arts and Craft Kits are available for pickup at any CKPL location and can be reserved by anyone of any age who loves to craft. Kits include all the necessary items to make an at-home art project,” library officials say.

To reserve your free kit, visit search.ckpl.ca and enter the name of the kit you want to reserve in the search bar.

You will need your CKPL card.

“Don’t have a CKPL card? Don’t worry. You can apply online for a virtual card at www.ckpl.ca/virtualcards.”

Available kits:

– Tissue Paper Pompoms – registration begins Friday, October 2 at 9 a.m.

– Geometric Paper Collage – registration begins Friday, October 16 at 9 a.m.

– Yarn Banners – registration begins Friday, October 30 at 9 a.m.

– Post-it Note Wreaths – registration begins Friday, November 13 at 9 a.m.

“All of the kits are inspired by videos on CKPL’s database CreativeBug. CreativeBug provides instructor led videos for beginner to expert level makers on art and design, sewing, quilting, paper, knitting, crochet, food, home, jewelry, and holiday! CreativeBug is available to use 24/7 from any location with an internet connection,” library officials say.
