DNA helps solve break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter earlier this year.

On January 17, 2020 police responded to an alarm at a pharmacy in Tilbury.

Upon arrival, officers observed that unknown suspects had smashed the front window and tried to pry open the narcotics cabinet.

Enough damage was done that the suspects were able to remove several bottles of pills.

The scene was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis.

In March, police received information from the Centre of Forensic Sciences stating that a DNA profile was generated and matched that of a local man.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

A 38-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with break and enter.

He was released pending a future court date of November 6, 2020.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday night, a man attended Circle K on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham and used a credit card that was previously reported stolen.

The man walked out of the store grabbing a ‘Red Bull’ hat making no attempt to pay for it.

With the assistance of video surveillance, the man responsible was identified.

Last night, a 33-year-old Howard Township man was arrested and charged with fraud under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and two counts of theft under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of November 6, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man who was wanted for criminal harassment and failing to comply with his release conditions attended police headquarters and turned himself in.

The 33-year-old Thamesville man was arrested and remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed a man who was wanted for possession for the purposes of trafficking and failing to attend court in the parking lot of a motel in Chatham.

The 31-year-old man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, officers located a man who was wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 29-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and released pending a future court date of November 6, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police located a man who was wanted for breaching his Conditional Sentence Order.

The 31-year-old Thamesville man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Centre Side Road near Countryview Line.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $8,000.

A 24-year-old Chatham Township woman was charged with making a turn not in safety.
