Controlled burn and training on Walpole Island (Photos)

Some Sydenham Current readers were enjoying the beautiful weather on the water on Saturday, October 10, 2020, when they spotted smoke and flames on shore.

The residents shared the following photos, that they took from their boat in the Syne River, of a building on fire on Walpole Island First Nation:

Walpole Island Fire Department officials confirmed with the Sydenham Current they were conducting some planned live training on the building.

At the owners request, the building was burned afterwards.
