Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charge

Lambton OPP officials allege: On October 11, 2020 members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol on Lakeshore Road, Town of Plympton-Wyoming.

At approximately 1:25 p.m. a member of the Lambton OPP initiated a traffic stop in relation to a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered.

A reading of “FAIL” was determined.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.

A 53-year-old Plympton-Wyoming man, has been charged with Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on December 14, 2020.

Two drivers charged with impaired after crash

Lambton OPP officials allege: On October 9, 2020 at approximately 4 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Confederation Line, Town of Plympton-Wyoming.

Lambton OPP members arrived on scene and observed a second vehicle on scene, attempting to drive the vehicle out of the ditch.

Investigation revealed the driver drove into the north ditch, overcorrected, pulling back onto the road, causing the motor vehicle to spin and enter the south ditch, severing a hydro pole.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered.

A reading of “FAIL” was determined.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.

A 21-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs and Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Upon speaking with the second driver that was attempting to remove the vehicle from the ditch, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was demanded.

The driver refused to provide a sample into the approved screening device.

The driver was subsequently arrested for failing to comply with demand and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment.

A 21-year-old Petrolia man was charged with Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand, pursuant to the Criminal Code.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia, Ontario on December 14, 2020.
