Disturbance leads to assault charge

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance on King Street East in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal altercation, the man struck another man, known to him, in the leg with a shower curtain.

The man was arrested and the metal pole was seized as evidence.

The 34-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 14, 2020 the woman was released from custody with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that she was not to communicate with a specific Chatham man or attend his residence.

Last night, police responded to a disturbance at the man’s home.

Through investigation, police found the woman hiding inside the residence.

The 24-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.

She was released pending a future court date of November 18, 2020.

Shoplifting leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the man concealed items in his coat and replaced the shoes he was wearing with new boots.

The man attended the cashier’s till and paid for other items, but not the merchandise hidden in his coat or the new boots on his feet.

Total value of the theft was estimated at $150.

A 41-year-old Thamesville man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of November 12, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 10, 2020 a woman was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was not to communicate with a specific Wallaceburg man.

On September 27, 2020 the pair were seen together at a local gas station and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Yesterday morning, the woman attended police headquarters and turned herself in.

The 32-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

She was released pending a future court date of November 17, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man who was wanted for using a counterfeit $100 US bill to buy clothes at a local store.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of four counterfeit $20 US bills.

A 47-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000, fraud under $5,000, using counterfeit money and two counts of being in possession of counterfeit money.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of November 10, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a man who was wanted for failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample as per his sentence earlier this year.

The 43-year-old Chatham man has been charged and remains in police custody this morning.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police arrested a woman who was wanted in connection with a stolen motor vehicle investigation.

A 37-year-old Chatham woman was charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000.

She was released pending a future court date of November 18, 2020.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspects entered a school under construction on Baldoon Road.

Once inside the suspects stole:

– 2 Stihl orange and white cement saws

– An Arbortech dark grey cement saw

– DeWalt grinder

– DeWalt impact drill

– DeWalt hammer drill

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $7,000.

The suspects also caused about $2,000 damage to a forklift on the property.

Theft in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Monday night at 8 p.m. and yesterday morning at 8:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered a construction site on Tecumseh Line and stole building materials valued at approximately $3,000.

Theft of electronics in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Monday at 10:30 p.m. and Tuesday at 7:45 a.m. unknown suspects forced their way into the Living Faith Church on Victoria Avenue, causing about $300 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole two laptop computers (Acer and HP).

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1,600.

Firearm stolen in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: As previous reported, sometime early Monday morning, unknown suspects entered three properties on 1st Concession Line.

A storage area was entered and two separate trailers were entered.

Yesterday, police learned that a black .22 cal Mossberg rifle was also stolen from a trailer along with a magazine.

The rifle had a scope and trigger lock attached.
