Police: Motorcycle stolen, drugs, man arrested twice in same day

Stolen motorcycle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime this morning, between 1 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. unknown suspects stole a 2003 silver Suzuki SK3 motorcycle (pictured above) from a residence on Couture Drive.

The motorcycle was last seen with Ontario license plate 6A0K4.

Man arrested twice in one day

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, a concerned citizen contacted police regarding a suspicious man on Queen Street in Chatham.

The citizen observed the man force his way into a vehicle and remove several items.

Officers located the man a short distance away and he was arrested.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief and theft under $5,000.

The stolen items were returned to their rightful owner.

Yesterday afternoon, the same man was observed stealing a bicycle from a property on Wellington Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man and he was arrested again.

The man was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of November 25, 2020.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Bridle Path Road in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the driver was suspended from driving and was arrested.

Suspected methamphetamine was found in the vehicle during the search incident to arrest.

The driver, a 40-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with driving while under suspension.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on December 16, 2020.

He was additionally charged with drug possession and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of December 31, 2020.

His passenger, a 40-year-old Wallaceburg was arrested and charged with drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of December 31, 2020.

Stolen truck involved in fail to remain collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 10:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Kenesserie Road near Cleeves Line in Howard Township.

The driver, lost control of the pick-up truck and utility trailer, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

The driver fled the scene as the truck was found abandoned upon police arrival.

Through investigation, police learned that the truck and trailer were stolen from a residence on Knoll Road in Orford Township.

Total damage as a result of the collision was estimated at $25,000.
