Police: Domestic offenses, theft of electronics, stolen car found

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 7 p.m. last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man attended the woman’s home, regardless of being on conditions not to communicate with her.

The man took the woman’s vehicle without her consent and upon returning a short time later, threw the keys at her feet.

When the man returned to his residence, he started sending Facebook messages to the woman.

Officers attended the man’s home, however he refused to exit.

To ensure the woman’s safety, a Feeney warrant was obtained for his arrest.

Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, the warrant was executed and the 36-year-old Chatham man was taken into custody.

He has been charged with take motor vehicle without consent and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic stop leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg.

The driver, a 26-year-old Walpole Island woman was charged with driving while under suspension and using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

The license plates were seized and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Her passenger, a 36-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions by associating with her.

He was released pending a future court date of December 11, 2020.

Men found in possession of stolen car

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last Thursday, a Thamesville woman reported to police that her car had been stolen.

Early this morning, around 5:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed two men driving the stolen car on Raleigh Street in Chatham.

A traffic stop was initiated and the men were arrested.

The driver, a 31-year-old Ridgetown man, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and theft of gas.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

His passenger, a 43-year-old Chatham man, has been charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date.

Theft of electronics

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Kings Ferry Road in Camden Township.

Once inside, the suspects stole a TV, laptop computer and internet router.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $1,300.
