Police: Criminal harassment, suspicious persons, drugs, obstruction

Suspicious persons complaint leads to arrests and charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 5 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of two suspicious people in the area of Goodwill Industries on National Road.

Officers located the pair hiding on the property and through investigation learned that they cut the lock off a fence in a secure area and cut the lock off a trailer as the door was found open.

Both were arrested and upon being searched, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, digital scale and large amount of cash.

The 27-year-old Chatham woman was charged with mischief under $5,000 and attempt theft under $5,000.

She remains in police custody and will be released pending a future court date.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief under $5,000, attempt theft under $5,000, possession for the purposes of trafficking and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Family dispute leads to public mischief charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Bothwell.

Upon police arrival, the man reported that he had been threatened with a knife by a family member.

Through investigation, police learned that the man fabricated the story.

The 33-year-old Bothwell man was arrested and charged with public mischief.

He was released pending a future court date.

Man charged with obstruct police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 2 a.m. this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Chatham.

While investigating the verbal altercation, the man involved provided a false name to police.

Officers determined the man’s true identity and he was arrested.

The 28-year-old man from Guelph was charged with obstruct police.

He was released pending a future court date of December 11, 2020.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 3 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg initiated a traffic stop in the area of Bruinsma Avenue.

The man was arrested for driving while under suspension.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 45-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with drug possession and released pending a future court date of December 17, 2020.

He will also be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on December 16, 2020 for driving while under suspension.

Wallaceburg citizen charged with criminal harassment

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 17, 2020 a Wallaceburg woman called police to report that she was being harassed by a local citizen.

Yesterday, the 20-year-old citizen was arrested and charged with criminal harassment.

The person was released pending a future court date of November 30, 2020.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a man wanted for robbery and using a disguise with intent was arrested in Windsor.

The 48-year-old Windsor man was transported back to Chatham-Kent for court purposes.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police located a man who was wanted for breaching his Probation Order.

A 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged.

He was released pending a future court date of January 12, 2021.
