Structure fire on Pain Court Line

Chatham-Kent firefighters battled a structure fire on Pain Court Line on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Fire officials said in a tweet posted at 7:14 p.m. on Wednesday that 55 firefighters were on scene “working to extinguish the fire.

“Crews are battling high winds and snow. Heavy equipment is being brought in to assist,” fire officials tweeted.

Fire officials say there were no injuries reported and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were notified.

Crews from multiple stations, Dover, Chatham South and North Raleigh, were on scene, fire officials tweeted earlier in the day at 5:13 p.m.

Residences in the area of St. Bernadette Street and Bear Line had been asked to close all windows/doors and avoid the area.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials tweeted on Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 that Pain Court Line was back open this morning.

“Thank you for your patience and co-operation last night,” police officials tweeted.
