Police: Drug & weapons charges in Wallaceburg, impaired driving, domestic

Domestic disturbance

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 28, at approximately 7:30 p.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance in Blenheim.

The female victim contacted police and told them she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.

Police arrived on scene and arrested her 49-year-old man for three counts of assault.

The Blenheim man was transported to CKPS headquarters and released with a future court date of January 26, 2021.

Traffic stop leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In the area of Wallace Street in Wallaceburg, police located a man operating an unplated ATV on the highway.

The 37-year-old Walpole Island man was stopped and arrested for driving while under suspension.

Police searched the man incident to arrest and located an amount of suspected methamphetamine.

The man was also found to be in possession of a firearm even though he is prohibited by a court order not to possess any weapons.

The man was transported to CKPS headquarters and charged accordingly.

He was then released with a future court date of January 28, 2021.

Woman charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, police received information about a possible impaired driver in the area of Lacroix Street in Chatham.

Officers located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver failed to stop, but finally pulled over on Richmond Street between Raleigh Street and West Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police believed the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol and she was arrested.

The woman was transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

The 26-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit and flight from police.

She remains in police custody this morning and will be released when sober pending a future court date of January 20, 2021.
