Realtors donate to Women United

Women United, an affinity group with the United Way of Chatham-Kent, is one of several local charities to receive a donation from the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors.

During the CKAR’s 2021 Board of Directors Induction Ceremony recently, a cheque for $2,690 was presented to Marge Muharrem, Individual and Major Gifts Associate & Donor Relations with United Way of Chatham-Kent.

“We are so thankful for this donation,” Muharrem said in a media release.

“It has been a hard year for so many people in the community, but groups like CKAR are helping to make things a little easier.”

Women United provides opportunities to improve the lives of women and their families in vulnerable situations by supporting areas where there are gaps in funding, programs, and services in Chatham-Kent.

Women United’s purpose is to identify the issues of concern for local women and their families, mobilize resources to meet existing and emerging needs, provide networking and social opportunities for members, and more.

“CKAR looks forward to supporting the community through our Realtors Care charity initiatives,” stated incoming President Laura Tourangeau, in a media release.

“Focusing on shelter based projects continues to align with our mandate.”

The Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation supports shelter-related charities in Ontario.

Shelter is defined as a refuge, haven or protection that provides or improves quality of life from hunger, the elements, physical/psychological abuse, disabilities and illness.
