One active COVID-19 case on Walpole Island

There is one active COVID-19 case on Walpole Island.

Officials on the First Nation reserve made the announcement on social media on Monday, January 11, 2021.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 26 in the community since the pandemic began last March.

Walpole Island officials say 511 residents have been tested for COVID-19, with 476 negative results and there are nine results pending as well.

There have been 24 recoveries on Walpole and one death.

There had been zero active cases on the First Nation reserve as of Friday, January 8, 2021.

Last week, Walpole officials said some of their police officers were returning to duty, after their police department was recently closed due to COVID-19. Details, here.

Walpole Island officials say if residents are experiencing symptoms, they should self-isolate immediately and call the Walpole Island Health Centre at 519-627-0765 or after hours, call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000.
