Baseline Bridge reopens to traffic in Wallaceburg

The Baseline Bridge in Wallaceburg has reopened to traffic, a bit ahead of schedule.

“Bridge reopened to traffic earlier than planned,” Infrastructure and Engineering Services officials said in a press release on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Bridge rehabilitation work had been taking place at the bridge since October and it wasn’t set to open again until Friday, January 15, 2021.

Wallaceburg Councillor Aaron Hall shared some further details on social media from Municipal staff.

“Works will still be proceeding adjacent to and under the bridge for the next few weeks but will have no impact on traffic,” Hall posted.

“Also and as a reminder, the Contractor will be returning in the spring to complete the required asphalt and concrete works on the bridge deck. This work will have periodic closures associated with it which we will communicate in more detail closer to the time of the works.”

The rehabilitation project for the Baseline Bridge in Wallaceburg received Council approval on Monday night, April 27, 2020.
