Five active COVID-19 cases on Walpole Island

There are now five active COVID-19 cases on Walpole Island.

Officials on the First Nation reserve made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 32 in the community since the pandemic began last March.

Walpole Island officials say 541 residents have been tested for COVID-19, with 509 negative results and zero results pending as well.

There have been 26 recoveries on Walpole and one death.

Walpole Island officials say if residents are experiencing symptoms, they should self-isolate immediately and call the Walpole Island Health Centre at 519-627-0765 or after hours, call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000.
