Fairfield Park thankful for ‘outpouring of support’ as COVID-19 cases rise

While COVID-19 cases continue to rise at Fairfield Park, officials at the Wallaceburg long-term home are “thankful for the overwhelming outpouring of support” from the community.

“The good wishes, thank you emails, food deliveries, and positive messages on social media are greatly appreciated,” Fairfield Park officials said in a press release issued on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.

Officials at the home say they received confirmation from CK Public Health that there are currently 32 residents, 26 staff and one essential caregiver who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the home as of 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

“The home remains in outbreak for COVID-19 and these numbers may change as the situation unfolds,” Fairfield Park officials stated.

“Fairfield Park continues to receive staffing support from its Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team partners, and is following the advice and guidance of Chatham-Kent Public Health.”

Fairfield Park officials added: “In addition, some staff members who previously tested positive are now out of isolation and have returned to work. We are also thankful to report that one of our resident cases has been resolved. Staff and resident screening continues to take place twice daily, with testing taking place for staff at a minimum of every five days.”

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit first declared the outbreak at Fairfield Park on January 10, 2021.
