142 active COVID-19 cases, 1,257 total, nine outbreaks in C-K

The active COVID-19 case count has increased by 15 and sits at 142 in Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases has increased by 20 and now sits at 1,257 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say five people are hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent, one more than on Wednesday.

Public health officials announced five more recoveries, bringing the total to 1,109.

Overall, there remains nine active COVID-19 outbreaks across the community:

– Five institutional outbreaks: Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, a total of 87 cases have been linked to this outbreak, Meadow Park Nursing Home in Chatham, one total case, Tilbury Manor Nursing Home, one total case, the COVID Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, two total cases, and the Medicine Unit at the CKHA, with 17 total cases.

– Two un-named workplace outbreaks.

– One school outbreak at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden.

– One congregate living outbreak.

92 active cases are linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, 34 are linked to close contact, five are unknown, three cases have information pending, three cases are linked to institutional outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent, two are linked to workplace outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, two cases are linked to congregate living outbreaks and one case is linked to the school outbreak.

Since the pandemic began in March, six people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 73,444 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

A total of 404 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Chatham-Kent.

“Effective January 14 at 12:01 a.m., there is a stay-at-home order in effect for 28 days requiring everyone to remain at home except for essential purposes, like the grocery store, pharmacy, health care, and essential work,” CK Public Health officials posted on social media.

On Tuesday, January 12, 2021 the Ontario Government declared a second state of emergency to address COVID-19.

“Please do your part and follow public health recommendations to help flatten the curve, and keep our community healthy and safe. We can do this CK.”
