Helen Lane formerly of Sombra Township

Helen Gertrude Lane formerly of Sombra Township passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the age of 95.

Helen was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel and Harriet (Hiller) Wright.

Beloved wife of the late Arthur Glenn Lane (2004).

Loving mother of Joy Snelgrove (Earle), Lynda Hedges (Jim), Robin Benedict (Randell) and the late infant son David (1947).

Dear grandmother of Bradley, Michael (Meilan), Brendan (Megan), Chris (Crystal), William (Laura), Nathan, Jaysilyn (Joel) and great grandmother of Spencer, Charlotte, Ainsley, Isabella, Ryan, Helen Grace, Myles, Isabelle, Lexi and new little one for Brendan and Megan on the way.

Sister and sister-in-law of Wilda & the late Roy Miller, Marguerite & James Smith, Dora & Archie Rankin, the late Isabel & Walter Peters, the late Lorne Wright, the late John & Pearl Lane, the late Garnet & Hazel Lane ,the lane Melvin & Nancy Lane, the late Walter Lane and the late Madeline & Gordon Griffith.

She will be missed by several nieces and nephews.

Helen and Glenn began their life together in 1943 and farmed on the 5th concession of Sombra Township for over 61 years.

Mom was close with her grandchildren, creating wonderful memories of her cooking, especially her famous apple pies.

Mom was known for her quick and dry but witty sense of humour.

She was a woman of strong faith.

Mom was a selfless person always thinking of others before herself.

She could be found most summers days in her flower gardens and vegetable garden which she took great pride in.

Mom was a member of the Becher Women’s Institute where she spent many afternoons quilting.

A private family funeral will be held at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
