New assistant fire chief hired in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services has announced that Sean McRoberts has accepted the position of Assistant Fire Chief.

Fire officials say McRoberts began his career with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in 1993 with Recreation Facilities, working his way up to the role of a Recreation Facilities Supervisor.

Assistant Chief McRoberts began his firefighting career with the Chatham-Kent Fire Department in 2001 as a Volunteer Firefighter with Station 9 – Bothwell.

He was hired by Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services as a full time career firefighter in 2009.

“We are delighted to welcome Chief McRoberts to the Command Team, he brings a significant wealth of experience and education that will serve our firefighters, and our community well,” stated Chief Chris Case, in a media release.

“I am pleased to see our internal talent continue to develop and take leadership roles in our Municipality.”

McRoberts has also spent time working as an instructor at the Lambton College Fire School, fire officials say.

“It is, however training and the preventative health and safety of its membership that he is the most passionate about.”
