Fairfield Park ‘saddened’ by recent death, ‘grateful’ for ongoing support

Officials at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg issued an update to the media on Thursday, February 11, 2021.

“We are saddened to report that a resident at Fairfield Park has passed away earlier this week
due to COVID-19,” Fairfield Park officials stated in a press release.

“Our thoughts are with their family today and I know you join us in extending our deepest condolences.”

Officials at the long-term care home say their number of resolved cases continues to go up and Public Health has confirmed that their total number of active COVID-19 cases has fallen to 24 active cases among residents and 31 active cases among staff.

“As you know, 10 Red Cross staff members are joining our care team and we look forward to welcoming them into our home,” Fairfield Park officials stated.

“We are grateful for their support and the ongoing support of our medical community. Additionally, a number of our resolved staff are returning to work and I know our residents will be happy to see their familiar faces again.”

Fairfield Park officials added: “Finally, we continue to be overwhelmed by the encouragement from our families and our community. Knowing that our neighbours stand with us as we work through this outbreak gives our staff extra strength as they continue to care for our residents.”

Two Fairfield Park residents, both women in their 90’s, have died from COVID-19 during this outbreak, public health officials say.

CK Public Health officials added that a total of 98 positive COVID-19 cases have been linked to the outbreak, which was first declared on January 10, 2021.
