The active COVID-19 case count has dropped by 14 and sits at 115 in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Friday, February 12, 2021.
The total number of COVID-19 cases has increased by two and now sits at 1,329 across Chatham-Kent.
CK Public Health officials say eight people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.
Public health officials announced 16 more recoveries, bringing the total to 1,206.
The institutional outbreaks at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance COVID Unit and at Copper Terrace have been declared over, public health officials say.
Overall, there remains three active COVID-19 outbreaks across the community:
– Two institutional outbreaks: Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, a total of 98 cases have been linked to this outbreak, and the Medicine Unit at the CKHA, with 23 total cases.
– One congregate living outbreak.
57 active cases are linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, 48 are linked to close contact, seven are unknown, one case is linked to institutional outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent, one case has information pending and one case is linked to travel.
Since the pandemic began in March, eight people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
A total of 77,258 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Also announced earlier this week, most communities across Ontario are having the stay-at-home order extended to Tuesday, February 16, 2021, including in Chatham-Kent.
However, a gradual re-opening plan has been outlined by the Province of Ontario.
“Beginning Wednesday, February 17, an updated colour coded system, regulating the various levels of public health measures, will be implemented,” CK Public Health officials posted on social media on Monday.
“As part of their announcement, Ontario updated some regulations around the various colour levels, which can be found here. We are still waiting to learn what colour level Chatham-Kent will return to and the associated measures that will be in place.”
