Municipal offices, arenas, pools and some services set to reopen in Chatham-Kent

Municipal offices, arenas, pools and some services are set to reopen across Chatham-Kent.

“The Municipality of Chatham-Kent would like to thank all residents for their hard work to keep the community safe during the provincial shutdown and stay-at-home order,” Municipal officials said in a media release.

“On February 12, 2021, the Government of Ontario announced that 27 Public Health Regions would be returned to the COVID-19 Response Framework: Keeping Ontario Safe and Open. As a result, Chatham-Kent was returned to the Red-Control category under this framework, starting February 16, 2021.”

Municipal officials say the Chatham Civic Centre will re-open on Thursday, February 18 for regular services including tax and utility payments and dog tag license renewals, for example.

All other municipal service centres will re-open for regular business hours effective Monday, February 22.

Municipal Information Desks in Bothwell, Thamesville and Wheatley will continue to be closed until further notice.

Service Ontario offices in Dresden and Chatham will continue to operate by appointment only but will no longer be just for essential services effective Monday, February 22.

Services including commissioning of documents and marriage licenses will continue to be available by appointment only.

The Provincial Offences Court: is open to the public. If you have a scheduled court date please call the office to obtain remote call in information.

Child Care and Early Years: Mandated virtual services, including on-line early years programs, social media videos, wellness calls to stay connected to families continue to be offered online. Municipal Pools: On February 22, 2021 both the Gable Rees Rotary Pool in Blenheim and the Wallaceburg Sydenham District Pool will open with a modified schedule. For more detailed information, please call 519.360.1998 or visit www.chatham-kent.ca/recreation

Arenas: Effective Saturday, February 20 all municipal arenas will reopen to resume existing ice contracts. Tiny Tot and Adult Skate ice programs will also be available. Chatham-Kent Public Library: All eleven library branches will continue to provide curbside service while Chatham-Kent is in the Red-Control category. Thames Art Gallery and Chatham Cultural Centre: The Thames Art Gallery will open on February 26 with the Landscape in Flux exhibit. If Chatham-Kent remains in the Red-Control category, this exhibit will be virtual. Limited programming will begin in March at the Chatham Cultural Centre.
